Researches continue to develop the science of hair transplantation, and show us a new invention every day or an important discovery that will drive the development of this field forward.
Especially since many of those working in this field have leaked to their ears the term “Perkutan”, so what does this term mean?
Perkutan is a new technique adopted in many of the leading European countries in the field of hair transplantation, its idea is to open hair channels in areas affected by baldness, then transplant the follicles in the same direction as the patient’s hair. Through Perkutan technique, which carries a special circular needle that opens the channels vertically and without creating transverse cracks in the cultivated area.
The sharp tool previously used was replaced by a fine needle that drops the hair follicles vertically into the transplanted area, thus controlling the angle of hair position and growth.
This technique enables us to plant more follicles per centimeter, so that the number of grafts grown between 40-50 grafts per centimeter instead of only 30 grafts were available using cleft technology.
There are two specific conditions on which this procedure depends:
1- Density of the donor area.
2- Space of the receiving area (Baldness area).
What are the advantages of Perkutan?
1- No bleeding after surgery or blood clotting.
2- The recovery period does not take long time.
3- The resulting redness is much less compared to the cleft technique.
4- Through this technique is controlled to determine the direction of hair exit and growth.
5- This technique allows to transplant more than 45 grafts per centimeter.
6- This technique enables us to get more hair follicles.
7- The appearance of hair is more natural than other techniques.
What is the difference between Perkutan and FUE?
Some may think that Perkutan is a separate technique. However, on the contrary, Perkutan is a subsidiary technique of modern technology and the simple difference is that the extracted follicles are transplanted by a special needle without creating cracks.
Is there a difference in the cost of the traditional FUE technique from the Perkutan technique?
It is particularly important that the Perkutan needs to focus more accurately on the work and therefore the doctor must be skillful and experienced in the technique.
The time taken to complete the Perkutan session is shorter than conventional operations and takes a much shorter time.
How long does it take to recover?
Of course, soon after the operation of Perkutan, the patient will be able to follow his daily life normally and the recovery period will be much shorter than the traditional extraction process as there is no scarring or crevices at the top of the head.
