Hair transplant surgery is a sensitive procedure and must being done by a surgeon who have experience in these kinds of surgeries otherwise it can go by a wrong way and no second chance to fix that again.
One of the most terrible side effects of hair transplant is “Necrosis” but what is that mean?
Necrosis is death of the skin tissues and cells under the scalp, it’s usually occurs after the hair restoration surgery.
Necrosis may occurs a scar under it with no hair so we consider it one of the most dangerous side effects of hair transplant.
What are the mean reasons which let necrosis occurs after the hair restoration?!
1-Over-packing: surgeons sometimes exaggerate when they want to achieve the best result at one time and that make them put a lot of hair follicle grafts in a small area to get high density of hair.
But what is happening is exactly the opposite, packing many hair roots at one small place is no good at all and may disrupt the blood circulation in this area so a lot of grafts can’t be feed by oxygen.
2- During opening the hair channels by surgeons some blood vessels can be damaged and that occurs an internal bleeding which lead us to necrosis after all.
3- Infection: If an infection over the course of a hair transplant surgery, it can be quickly treated with antibiotics. If left untreated, however, an infection can reach deep into the recipient scalp, become necrotic, and spread to a larger area.
4- Planting a too many follicles in one session: Some surgeons implant so many hair follicles in one session to have the best result but we can say that during one session the best grafts number should be imlanted are between 3500-4000 hair grafts.
5- Smoking: doctors advise their patients to quit smoking for at least two months after the hair transplant procedure.
What the necrosis look like?!
We can notice red patches in the receipt area and this is normal unless if infection occurs there so the planted follicles can’t be grown on that dark patches.
It is easy to know if that area was infected by microbes where you can see the patches surrounded by yellow color.
How we can pervert the “Necrosis”?
We have to choose the suitable doctor for that procedure and it must be a plastic surgery or dermatologist who has experience in hair transplant.
The quality of this work is determine how much this process can be successful and no dangerous side effects or risks can be occur during it.
Also the clinic and the equipment should be clean because the contaminated injections can bring microbes into the patient head and make it worse.
We have to be sure from the person who apply this procedure if he’s truly doctor or just a specialist because doctors has more experience to deal with such as situations.
The idea is never to count on the number of planted follicles to have better results. The doctor performing the procedure should be knowledgeable and fully aware of what he is doing during the procedure and pay attention to the minutest details concerning the number of follicles to be planted. Doctors should never operate in an arbitrary and not calculated manner in order to avoid one of the most dangerous side effects in hair transplant procedures.
